Week 9 Term 3

What a busy and fun-filled week we have had. All the children gave it their all in the Cross Country race on Tuesday. A special well done to John and Theo who placed 2nd and 3rd in the boys' race, and to Paige who came 4th in the girls. We are so proud of all our runners and also of how patient and well-behaved the Pod 1 children were whilst waiting for what seemed like ages for their race to begin. Thanks to all parents too for your help, support and encouragement. Here are a few photos:

Panda Fundraiser

The children in Pod 1 turned up in style on Friday to do their bit for the Panda fundraiser. Here they are in their black and white clothes standing by the coin trail.

Spring is here!

On Friday Pod 1 went for a walk around school to look for signs of spring.

We saw pink blossom ...

Pod 1 Speaking and Listening

Our oral language programme helps the children in our Pod to communicate effectively with one another. We have been learning how to take turns when speaking and to speak clearly in sentences. We are learning to be good listeners by: looking at the people who are talking; smiling and nodding to give encouragement; and not interrupting. We are also learning to ask questions to find out more details. Every Wednesday we bring in special treasures or objects from home and tell each other about them.

Welcome to Pod 1's blog. We will endeavour to keep you posted with news and photos to connect you with the learning and activities taking place in Pod 1.
This term we have been learning about "My Body". We have been thinking about how to stay fit and healthy through diet and exercise. We are beginning to train for our cross country race which takes place on Tuesday 20th September. Please make sure your child brings suitable footwear for running in every day until then. We have been exploring science each week and have been learning about how to use all our senses. See the photos below - more will follow soon.
We are having fun in our "Imagine" space. The dress up focus for the next few weeks is "Superheroes". If anyone has any superhero dress up costumes at home that we could borrow we would be extremely grateful. Ensure any items you send in are named so that we can return them to you in week 9. Only 3 weeks left of term to go! How did that happen?
