This term we are learning about plants. We have all planted seeds to grow in our classrooms. Room 4 had a look in the school gardens and dug up some weeds. We took them back to the classroom to make observations.

We had a look at the native gardens and Sharon showed us the leafcutter bee house.

The bees are cocooned inside leaves in the house. They will fly out when the weather gets warmer and help to pollinate our plants.

We looked closely at the weeds, drew diagrams and wrote labels.

All the weeds had roots, stems and leaves. Some had flowers.

Here are R3 and R4 making marble runs. We had some help from the children working in the R2 ski class.

On the last morning of Term 3 we had fun investigating ice.

This term we have been investigating how things move. This week we explored magnets and found out that they can push and pull each other!

We are investigating the objects we find in space!

On Tuesday we had fun making slime. We mixed cornflour, water and food colouring. It felt slippery and slimy!

Have you met the new arrivals? This week we welcomed 5 tadpoles to our Pod. We have been noticing the different colours and sizes of each one. We are thinking about how they will change and grow over the next few weeks.

We have been exploring volume and capacity with water, sand and other materials.

We are busy sorting seeds for science and sorting shapes for maths.

This week we have been looking closely at daffodils and drawing the stem, petals and trumpet.

  1. What fantastic experiments! What sort of material stopped the ice from melting? Why do you think it was the best? I love the intense concentration on your faces while you are working away.
